Ferrari driver on top in winter series

Lance Stroll’s foray into the Toyota Racing Series, has got off to a very auspicious start. The winter series, now in its eleventh year, boasts 20 drivers on track, featuring some of the most promising youngsters from around the world.

There are five rounds held at different circuits in New Zealand and in the first event, held at Christchurch’s Ruapuna Park track, the Canadian Ferrari Driver Academy student won the first race and came third in the second, driving one of the two M2 Competition single-seaters. In race 3, Stroll became the youngest ever winner of the Lady Wigram Trophy, on his way to an inaugural weekend points total of 204. The second round starts in a few days at Invercargill’s Teretonga Park.
