The all-new Kia K4 sedan has made its global premiere at the 2014 Chengdu Motor Show in Sichuan, China. The new K4 will be manufactured and marketed exclusively in China and has been designed and developed specifically with Chinese consumers in mind.
Featuring a bold and elegant new design, accentuated by stylish and bold lines and Kia’s hallmark ‘tiger-nose’ grille, the new K4 is 4.7-meter long with a 2,770 mm wheelbase, one of the longest in the segment, while a relatively wide (1,815 mm) and high (1,465 mm) body ensures plenty of space for occupants in both the front and rear seats.
From launch, the K4 will be available with two naturally-aspirated, lightweight ‘Nu’ gasoline engines (1.8-and 2.0-liter) offering strong performance, good fuel economy and excellent noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) characteristics. The 1.8-liter engine generates 143 ps and 176 Nm of torque, while the larger 2.0-liter unit gives drivers up to 155 ps and 192 Nm. Both are paired with Kia’s six-speed automatic transmission offering fully automatic or sequential manual gear selection.
Later in the new K4’s lifecycle, the car will be available with Kia’s powerful 1.6-liter turbocharger T-GDI gasoline engine, generating 176 ps and 265 Nm, together with Kia’s first seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), ensuring higher performance and fun-to-drive handling characteristics.
